Destruction
By Eric Rodriguez
Here we are at the cross roads,
Oh what war torn path Destruction riddled with lies and tears,
this stand will be the last
Fighting for you was easy; it’s what I was built to do
I guess I never could see that in the end I’d be fighting you
Day after tiresome day,
worn and weathered by trial and error
Relentlessly pursuing the slightest means to stay together
But this solder needs to stop the fight for a moment of peace
While you carelessly let down your guard and assume I submit to defeat
After the smoking gun, what still remains when a battle is won
Broken hearts and endless tears,
look at what we’ve become Once a fortress of steel, many miles high and feared by all
Now a spectacle as they watch and wait for the upcoming fall
But I won’t give in to defeat, no that’s never been my way
Actions speaking louder than words, with nothing else to say
I’ll pack my things and leave, setting up camp at another base
Burning every image of you, while the future willingly takes your place
Your army is strong and hearty, how wonderful it is for you
To render my defeat there’s more you’re going to have to do
The sudden silence on the field doesn’t mean that I’ve withdrawn
Confused and unsteady you are as
I continue to string you along Effortlessly closing in on you,
there’s more to me than you know
Predicting every move you’re going to make before it becomes so
I know how your mind works and I’m surely one step ahead
As you faintly start to realize the inevitable wont preclude your end.
